To Play Better Golf – Putting Consistently Will Help

Do you get excited at the thought of putting? Does it give you a high to go to the range it spend an hour on your putting? I ask these questions leading into the idea that your putting could be costing you several strokes every round.

Now picture this scenario. How many times have you gotten to the green in regulation only to “three-jack” your putts and walk off with bogey or worse? I have done it more times than I want to think, and it is humiliating to say the least!

Golf putting seems so basic and easy and yet to make 50% of your 8 foot putts is very difficult. I have always looked at putting practice as boring, so I never use to do it. Big mistake that was! The more I ignored my putting, the more strokes I was leaving on the greens from every round I played.

I can’t tell you how many times a I killed a long drive down the middle, got to the green in regulation, and 3-putted more holes than I can count. Not a pretty picture, and one that is the brunt of all the jokes after the round.

Does this sound familiar? Do you have putting woes that jack up your scores beyond where they should be? If so, keep reading as I want to burn in your brain the importance of golf putting and practice.

Practicing your putting doesn’t have to be boring. In fact there are many excellent golf putting aids that can keep you focused and really get you dialed in on your putting. I have taken my putting aid to the practice green and spent over an hour there. That’s unheard of for me! I have to laugh now.

These putting aids are very effective at helping you groove a perfect putting stroke that will hold up for 18 holes. In fact, after taking my putting more seriously, I dropped 5 strokes of my score and I was already a 9 handicap!

Now you’ve got to do some research at your local golf store to find the putting aid that will work for you. Hopefully you can even try one out before you buy it. Doing this gives you an idea of how effective it will be and if you will stick with it.

Some of these aids may seem hokey! Don’t take those seriously. Look at the ones that will directly help your putting stroke and tempo. Thank goodness there are not as many golf putting aids as there are clubs!

The bottom line to lowering your scores is to practice your putting! Putting is over 40% of your score…don’t ignore it!

How Golf Club Comparisons Can Help You Find The Best Equipment

Do you want to know how to get the best fitting golf equipment? Golf club comparisons are the answer. You will have to try some different types of equipment to find your perfect match.

It’s these golf club comparisons that are essential to getting you fitted with the proper gear. Look below to get some great tips for comparing and testing different golf clubs.

1.Look around at your local golf store, driving range or golf course and find a few sets or clubs that are within your budget and price range. Don’t be afraid to compare prices.

2.Make sure you like the exterior look of the golf clubs. Check the color, design, and overall aesthetics of the club. It’s very important for your comfort level.

3.At the store or pro shop compare the way some different clubs look and feel in the address position. Set the clubs on the ground and get set up like you are going to hit a shot. Look down the shaft and make sure the club is sitting in a good position that you are comfortable with. You are also looking to see if the shaft is ahead of the ball(also known as offset), if the club sits flat on the ground, is it fat, thin, big, small etc. You must check for all these features with every club.

4.Find an area where you can swing the clubs freely (driving net or outside). You are going to check the weight of the clubs. Swing the different clubs to see if the club is heavy or light. Also try to feel if the weight is in the head or shaft of the club. This will have an affect on your swing speed.

5.Now you are going to hit some shots outside. You want to check the way the ball flies off the club face. Is it high and floating, low and penetrating, hooking left, or slicing right? Find a ball flight you like because every club is different. Also what feeling do you get from each club? Is it nice or does it hurt your hand?

After doing these golf club comparisons and trying all these different tips and helpful ideas you should be able to narrow it down to the club or set of clubs you like the best.

If you still can’t make up your mind, try playing with the clubs for a round of golf to help you make that final decision. Good luck and enjoy doing your golf club comparisons!

Golf Putting Aids Can Shave Strokes Off Your Score

How many golf putting aids do you have? I’ll bet you have one even in your office right now. Even though putting bores me (and my putts per round show it), it is a critical component of your game if you want to shoot lower scores.

Practicing your putting can get monotonous and boring; and a training aid specific to your putting problem can make all the difference in the world. In fact, by keeping you interested in practicing, these aids can hone your putting leaps and bounds ahead of your playing partners and competitors.

Don’t waste your time trying every putting aid on the market. It is easy to get caught up in the trap to go store to store trying every one you can get your hands on. While I commend you on your persistence and willingness to thoroughly research before you buy, there is a point at which you need to make a decision and get on with it!

The the first step to getting a golf putting aid that will help you, is finding out what your putting deficiency is.

There can be many issues/problems in your putting. For example you can have excess head and body movement. Poor putter path back and through; inconsistent contact with ball and putter face; erratic tempo throughout stroke, and many others. The list can go on and on, but I think you get the idea.

Figuring out what your issue is will give you direction on what putting aid to look in to. These training aids can get very expensive, so you do not want to be hasty and premature in your purchase decision. In fact, sometimes you can make your own golf putting aid if need be.

Try it before you buy it! Now I know early on I said don’t go hog wild trying every training aid in the store, you definitely need to narrow down your choices and then go into a local golf store to try it out.

Many of these training aids for putting can be demoed right in the store. Why not try it before you buy it? What a novel idea eh? If you give it a go first, you will have a better idea of whether it can help your putting or not.

I’ve gone into the golf shop looking at these, tried one, and was blown away at how different it was to actually use it first. Never…I mean never buy it without trying to find it locally! You’re throwing your money out the window!

Now comes the make-or-break point! To be successful, you need to “use it consistently!” Let me say that one more time, “use it consistently!” The ONLY way you will see improvement is to practice with your new aid as much as possible. If it can be done in your home, do it daily. If you need to go to the range, try to do it at least 2 times a week.

So many golfers buy something on a whim, only to use it once or twice and that’s it! Not a smart move if you want to see results. So remember…consistency is the key to success!

Golf Bags for Beginner Golfers

You might be a golf beginner looking for your first set of golf clubs and equipment or a pro shopping for upgrades, but all will agree that golf bags are essential in the game. Next to golf clubs, a golf bag is one of the most important golfing equipment there is.

It is considered a necessity. A good golf bag will lessen your worries on the golf course, (i.e. all your clubs are in their proper place) and you can focus on your teeing.

If you’re a beginner golfer, then golf bags are definitely a must. However, there are things that you should know before going to the nearest golf store and buying a golf bag on impulse. First, there are two types of golf bags? carry bags and cart bags.

Carry bags are golf bags that are used when you are planning to have a lot of walking on the golf course. Cart golf bags are those that you use when walking is not possible (as some golf courses prohibit walking), and riding a golf cart is your option. A beginner golfer will most definitely buy a walking bag at first, although if you are a serious beginner of the game, then you will eventually buy both types of golf bags.

If you are a newbie in the game, you might ask “What is a golf bag for? I only have four golf clubs.” A golf bag is a functional equipment rather than a fashion statement. It is not just for your golf clubs, but it can also hold your other golf equipment and accessories. Some advanced golf bags even have pocket coolers that can keep your drink ice-cold even for hours! You might want to consider that, especially when you will buy a carry golf bag.

When buying a golf bag, especially a carry golf bag, find a comfortable one. One should check the straps to see if it fits comfortably and whether it can be carried easily. Remember that your golf bag will be one of your trusted companions on the greens, and that you will spend hours with it. So choose wisely. Don’t buy low quality bags, because you will end up purchasing another bag in the next few months if your old golf bag tears up. You should also buy your golf bag depending on the number of golf clubs that you have. Most golf bags can carry up to 15 golf clubs. A tournament however limits the number of golf clubs in your golf bag.

Another important thing to consider when purchasing a golf bag is its weight. This is one of the most important things to know. Golf bags should be light enough to be carried or carted easily, but sturdy enough to hold your clubs and protect them. Some golf bags are even water resistant, and are rain proofed for the protection of your clubs. Most of these golf bags have 8 or 9 dividers or pockets. Again, the number of dividers that you will need depend on the amount of clubs and accessories you will carry. If you have many golf clubs then choose a golf bag with many dividers. However, these types of golf bags have the tendency to be heavier. Some bags can weigh less than 5 pounds! These types of bags are made up of space-age materials such as graphite, however, they more expensive.

Remember that when buying golf bags, the lighter it is, the better and more comfortable it will be.
