To Play Better Golf – Putting Consistently Will Help

Do you get excited at the thought of putting? Does it give you a high to go to the range it spend an hour on your putting? I ask these questions leading into the idea that your putting could be costing you several strokes every round.

Now picture this scenario. How many times have you gotten to the green in regulation only to “three-jack” your putts and walk off with bogey or worse? I have done it more times than I want to think, and it is humiliating to say the least!

Golf putting seems so basic and easy and yet to make 50% of your 8 foot putts is very difficult. I have always looked at putting practice as boring, so I never use to do it. Big mistake that was! The more I ignored my putting, the more strokes I was leaving on the greens from every round I played.

I can’t tell you how many times a I killed a long drive down the middle, got to the green in regulation, and 3-putted more holes than I can count. Not a pretty picture, and one that is the brunt of all the jokes after the round.

Does this sound familiar? Do you have putting woes that jack up your scores beyond where they should be? If so, keep reading as I want to burn in your brain the importance of golf putting and practice.

Practicing your putting doesn’t have to be boring. In fact there are many excellent golf putting aids that can keep you focused and really get you dialed in on your putting. I have taken my putting aid to the practice green and spent over an hour there. That’s unheard of for me! I have to laugh now.

These putting aids are very effective at helping you groove a perfect putting stroke that will hold up for 18 holes. In fact, after taking my putting more seriously, I dropped 5 strokes of my score and I was already a 9 handicap!

Now you’ve got to do some research at your local golf store to find the putting aid that will work for you. Hopefully you can even try one out before you buy it. Doing this gives you an idea of how effective it will be and if you will stick with it.

Some of these aids may seem hokey! Don’t take those seriously. Look at the ones that will directly help your putting stroke and tempo. Thank goodness there are not as many golf putting aids as there are clubs!

The bottom line to lowering your scores is to practice your putting! Putting is over 40% of your score…don’t ignore it!

Find Out The Secret Of Having The Best Golf Shoes For Your Game

There are many pieces of golf equipment that are unnecessary for most golfers. One piece of equipment that doesn’t fall in that category are golf shoes. There are many different types of golf shoes on the market, so it’s hard to find the right pair for you. This article will endeavor to teach you all you need to know about golf shoes so you can make an informed decision when you decide to go buy a pair.

Golf Shoe Type One

The first type of golf shoes that are very popular amongst many players on the PGA, are studded shoes. Now you’re probably wondering “isn’t every golf shoe studded?” and you’re right. Every golf shoe is studded except the types of studs carry from shoe to shoe. The first one we will be talking about is the metal studded golf shoe. In fact the studs are more like metal spikes and gives players extra grip when they are taking their shot.

Extra grip usually means more balance and a well balanced stance is generally going to create a much smoother and cleaner shot. Lately there has been one concern with metal studded golf shoes and that is the fact they tend to damage greens when players are putting. There is nothing more frustrating for a golfer when their ball strikes a divot in the green when they are putting. It’s something that of course has been addressed and with that we can move onto the second type of golf shoe.

Golf Shoe Type Two

The second type of golf shoe that is beginning to become more popular than the first is the rubber studded golf shoe. Most players on the PGA wear a pair of rubber studded golf shoes. Most people who wear them say there is no difference between the level of balance attained from the rubber studs and the metal studs. This is great news because rubber studs tend to make very little if not any damage to the surface of greens. This means that there will be a reduction in the number of balls missing the hole due to divots in the green. This of course is going to save a hec of a lot of frustration for everyone.

Therefore if you are looking to buy a pair of new golf shoes than your best bet is to buy a pair of rubber studded shoes. I mean everyone else is so why not you too!

Golf Bags for Beginner Golfers

You might be a golf beginner looking for your first set of golf clubs and equipment or a pro shopping for upgrades, but all will agree that golf bags are essential in the game. Next to golf clubs, a golf bag is one of the most important golfing equipment there is.

It is considered a necessity. A good golf bag will lessen your worries on the golf course, (i.e. all your clubs are in their proper place) and you can focus on your teeing.

If you’re a beginner golfer, then golf bags are definitely a must. However, there are things that you should know before going to the nearest golf store and buying a golf bag on impulse. First, there are two types of golf bags? carry bags and cart bags.

Carry bags are golf bags that are used when you are planning to have a lot of walking on the golf course. Cart golf bags are those that you use when walking is not possible (as some golf courses prohibit walking), and riding a golf cart is your option. A beginner golfer will most definitely buy a walking bag at first, although if you are a serious beginner of the game, then you will eventually buy both types of golf bags.

If you are a newbie in the game, you might ask “What is a golf bag for? I only have four golf clubs.” A golf bag is a functional equipment rather than a fashion statement. It is not just for your golf clubs, but it can also hold your other golf equipment and accessories. Some advanced golf bags even have pocket coolers that can keep your drink ice-cold even for hours! You might want to consider that, especially when you will buy a carry golf bag.

When buying a golf bag, especially a carry golf bag, find a comfortable one. One should check the straps to see if it fits comfortably and whether it can be carried easily. Remember that your golf bag will be one of your trusted companions on the greens, and that you will spend hours with it. So choose wisely. Don’t buy low quality bags, because you will end up purchasing another bag in the next few months if your old golf bag tears up. You should also buy your golf bag depending on the number of golf clubs that you have. Most golf bags can carry up to 15 golf clubs. A tournament however limits the number of golf clubs in your golf bag.

Another important thing to consider when purchasing a golf bag is its weight. This is one of the most important things to know. Golf bags should be light enough to be carried or carted easily, but sturdy enough to hold your clubs and protect them. Some golf bags are even water resistant, and are rain proofed for the protection of your clubs. Most of these golf bags have 8 or 9 dividers or pockets. Again, the number of dividers that you will need depend on the amount of clubs and accessories you will carry. If you have many golf clubs then choose a golf bag with many dividers. However, these types of golf bags have the tendency to be heavier. Some bags can weigh less than 5 pounds! These types of bags are made up of space-age materials such as graphite, however, they more expensive.

Remember that when buying golf bags, the lighter it is, the better and more comfortable it will be.
